Community Development Programs
SMCAA offers Community Development through: Family Self-Sufficiency, Supportive Housing, and Rapid Rehousing.
Family Self-Sufficiency is a voluntary program that encourages HCV participants to be economically independent and self-sufficient. SMCAA offers individual counseling to participants in MSHDA's FSS Program.
Supportive Housing provides housing support for disabled or mental health individuals. The Supportive Housing program provides housing and supportive services for mental health clients.
Rapid Rehousing targets individuals and households with children that are coming directly from the streets or emergency shelter. The purpose of this program is to make each household's experience of homelessness as brief as possible by moving them into permanent housing quickly and to support the household in their efforts to live as independently as possible.
At this time, SMCAA is unable to host any home buyer education classes, rental counseling classes, or 1-on-1 housing counseling. However, we have a partnership with Telamon Corporation who provides monthly virtual home buyer education classes and financial management classes. To register for one of Telamon's upcoming classes, click here.

THANK YOU NOTES FOR HOUSING
At 38, I found myself divorced, my credit score in the dumps, living with my parents and everything I owned fit into one laundry basket. With the support and assistance from Kim, I now have the keys in my hands for my dream home. Every day I give thanks for the blessings that I have received and the opportunities that I have had to endure.
There are no words to express how grateful I am to have been blessed with all that has been done for me. I would like to thank everyone who came [to my home] and worked; I could have never done this on my own. I have truly been blessed.
Thank you for all the good information you have given me in the past. As you know, I have purchased my home and I am within a year and a half of paying my house off. You are a good friend to have and thank you for your help. I will be able to pass this information to others that may need it.
