PGA and Wolf Financial jointly donate $25,000 to Stuff-A-Truck

PGA of America and Wolf Financial Advisory jointly donated $25,000 to the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency Friday at Roger’s Foodland in St. Joseph.

The two donations brought the total money raised to over $36,000, in addition to the food donations raised at Rogers and the additional donations yet to be raised from schools in the area.

“It’s incredible,” said SMCAA executive director Kim Smith Oldham. “The community is great and over the last three years the community has really improved. This just goes to show once again that the community has truly stepped up.”

The SMCAA provides essential groceries and personal hygiene items to thousands of individuals and hundreds of families in Counties Berrien, Cass and Van Buren. They also offer utility support, rental support, supportive housing, home repairs, crisis response, economic security, and weathering programs for low-income individuals.

Each year, the Stuff-A-Truck ride was hosted by the Mid-West Family of Southwest Michigan and Y-Country. Founded in 1996 by Mid-West Family President Dave Doetsch, the event has become a flagship event for Y-Country.

“It was the first time they put their arms around the community,” said Y-Country’s Doetsch. “The audience has always been great at supporting them. … and [Mid-West Family] has the ability to serve the community in this way because we have this megaphone and this audience.”

Robert Wolf, owner of Wolf Financial Advisory, said he’s excited to contribute and when he saw the PGA donation he was inspired.

“I was so touched that we are increasing our donation from $10,000 to $15,000,” Wolf said. “It’s a banner day for them [SMCAA]and the real winners are our community.”
